The Great Outdoors - Garden Time Tips - Flair Rugs

25

MARCH 2020

This weekend is set to (finally) be a nice one

Now really is the perfect time to stay home and enjoy some family activities in the garden!

If you are looking for some inspiration we’ve put together some of our favourite ideas; go on let your hair down and have some fun!

1. Family lunch outside

Get some vitamin D and feel the sun on your face while dining alfresco. Lunch, dinner or tea, it’s the perfect opportunity for sitting together and spending quality time with each other. If you are working from home, a sharing lunch can be a great way to break up your day!

2. Grow your own vegetables

A great way to bring out green fingers in the kids, by giving them their own plot to plant and grow vegetables, teaching them about gardening and the importance of eating healthy.

Don’t worry if you’re not an experienced gardener, or if you don’t have a huge garden – you can even grow some greens on the balcony or windowsill pot.  Start off small by growing a few easy plants just for the fun of it and take it from there, we recommend starting with salad leaves, radishes and spring onions – easy to plant and quicker to grow! Important if the children are on a crops countdown!

3. Reading rugs

We know how important reading is for both adults and children alike! We love the idea of creating a reading area in the garden, shaded enough so that you can read without the sun reflecting off your books, but while still enjoying the fresh air! We can get stuck in a rut with computers, TV’s and Ipads, use the great weather to get away from technology and take your books outside!

4. Glow in the dark bowling

Our favourite by far is this DIY glow in the dark bowling game.

Glow sticks are the secret behind this nighttime game that kidsand adults will love! Raid your recycling bin for some clear plastic bottles, remove the labels, clean and dry and insert a glow stick! Use a sturdy ball for bowling, like a small football and Voila! A perfect game for summertime fun!
