It takes great passion to make great rugs

I was fortunate enough to be encouraged early on by my manager to get myself involved in different areas of the company. This helped me to progress from Assistant Management Accounts to Head of Finance after two and a half years.

After working with other heads of department, I then became part of the SLT (Senior Leadership Team) and then became Finance Director in September 2020. In July 2021 I also took on responsibilities in the Operations department.

Always be prepared for change and never stop looking for improvements, both personally and professionally.

Flair is extremely fast-paced but also very rewarding. Everyone always helps each other out and pitches in. Be prepared to get stuck in and enjoy the variety and the challenge; it’s about having fun along the way.

I started Flair in a new role as ‘Digital Marketing Executive’. I joined at an exciting time when Flair was growing rapidly and with that I got the opportunity to work on some amazing projects, from launching a new website, to managing Flair’s first international exhibition, and working on new joint marketing initiatives with key customers.

Following my maternity leave, I was offered a new opportunity to step up to the role of Digital Trade Manager for a national retailer. This was a huge learning curve for me, but the one that I have loved the most; taking on a new challenge, building on my strengths and developing new ones. It has opened up my skill set, combining my creative skills as a marketer with my commercial acumen as a trade manager.

I learnt how to use my initiative and learn by doing. Even though I’ve been in the industry for 12 years, every day is still a learning opportunity, and I get excited by anything and everything, from learning new processes, approaches to range development, new techniques & interior trends (an opportunity to capture those valuable product USPs!), data tools… to name a few.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions (.. again and again!). It’s the best way to learn and develop. Plus we are a friendly bunch!

My career journey has been extremely fast and rewarding. I came in as an agency colleague on a temporary contract and have progressed through to full-time Warehouse Operative, Supervisor and now Shift Manager.

The biggest lesson I have learned is to continually look for ways to improve in everything you do. As a company we are constantly doing this, and the company, especially the warehouse, has evolved so much in the last 5 years.

The best piece of advice I would give to a new colleague is work hard, be ready for a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and you will get the rewards.
